30 jaar Monitor Georganiseerde Criminaliteit
The sixth and most recent edition of the Organized Crime Monitor (MGC) was published in early 2026. This seminar looked back on what nearly three decades of research into organized crime in the Netherlands have yielded in terms of modus operandi, criminal partnerships, the criminal careers of suspects, and the approach taken by the police and judicial authorities.
It also reflected on the lessons learned from the MGC for both science and practice. In addition, current developments within organized crime, such as the role of social media and the involvement of young people in serious and organized crime. Finally, we looked ahead to future challenges and opportunities to further strengthen the connection between science, policy, investigation, and practice when it comes to the nature and approach to organized crime in the Netherlands.
