CIROC seminars


CIROC focuses on knowledge transfer from theory to practice and vice versa, and the disclosure of information about organized crime and the fight against it for Dutch audiences. This takes shape through seminars organized four or five times a year in Utrecht on a topical issue in the field of organized crime. The themes are introduced by speakers from the Netherlands and abroad.

The aim is to make the subject accessible for different groups (scientists and scientific institutions, central government, public prosecutors, law enforcement agencies, the judiciary and relevant free-professional groups) and to initiate a discussion. In the archives of the seminars you can find an overview of the programs and the presentations (mostly in Dutch).

    Friday, April 10, 2026 - Location: The Hague - Save the date!


    The sixth and most recent edition of the Organized Crime Monitor (MGC) was published in early 2026. This seminar will look back on what nearly three decades of research into organized crime in the Netherlands have yielded in terms of modus operandi, criminal partnerships, the criminal careers of suspects, and the approach taken by the police and judicial authorities. It will also reflect on the lessons learned from the MGC for both science and practice. In addition, attention will be paid to current developments within organized crime, such as the role of social media and the involvement of young people in serious and organized crime. Finally, we will look ahead to future challenges and opportunities to further strengthen the connection between science, policy, investigation, and practice when it comes to the nature and approach to organized crime in the Netherlands.
